Theme Needed for 61st Annual Concord Christmas Parade

A theme is needed for the 61st annual Concord Christmas Parade, to be held at 10 a.m. Nov. 17. Also, donations are needed for summer banners along Loudon Road.

It may only be the month of May, but organizers for the 61st annual are starting to jot down ideas for this year's big event.

As chairman for 41 years, I began getting calls to be apart of the parade and asking what is the theme since January - yes January. I have 12 entries to date.  James Cusano is returning as co-chairman along with his dad, Thomas Cusano. A parade meeting will be called in the coming weeks to prepare for this year's edition.

Please email me with your ideas: dickpatten7@gmail.com or give me a call at 496-2917 or James Cusano at 225-8308. The parade will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17, on the Concord Heights.

In another note, donations are needed for more Heights summer banners. Walgreen's Pharmacy has donated funds for one more but a total of eight are needed to go up Loudon Road.

I am also in need of volunteers, a business, or organization to adopt the traffic islands on the north side of Loudon Road at Hazen Drive. Please contact David Gill at 225-8690 at Concord Rec Department.

Concord Grange # 322 adopted the south side of Loudon Road at Airport Road.

A big thanks to John Cusano for donating mulch and to the volunteers from Merrimack County Diversion Program for helping to clean the area.
