I am also proud of my endorsement by the Concord Monitor Editorial Board.
I wouldn’t feel right asking for your vote if I did not have a proven track record of involvement, hard work, problem-solving, and a balanced approach to getting things done.
I have been listening to people’s concerns. Here are five goals I have heard over and over, and why I am the candidate best qualified to work on achieving them:
- Support Rt. 3/Village St. area businesses and residents during reconstruction work. To accomplish this, I will use the experience I’ve gained on the Penacook Village Association Business Committee, and the Transportation Policy Advisory Committee (TPAC). I have coordinated a “Penacook Businesses Are Open” promotional video, currently airing on Concord TV, and being used by local businesses in their marketing.
- Encourage development of the Penacook TIF District, which includes the former Tannery and Rivco sites. As a member of the Penacook Village Tax Increment Financing (TIF) District Advisory Board, appointed by the City Manager, I will be reviewing the scope and cost of infrastructure improvements. These improvements could include a combination of a grocery store, market rate apartments, retail shops, restaurants, and office space.
- Foster economic development in Penacook. To achieve this, I will encourage people to participate in the upcoming Mixed-Use Zoning visioning sessions that will merge residents’ and developers’ desires for future growth. This growth can lead to jobs, tax base expansion and economic vitality. Residents have long expressed interest in mixed use zoning for Penacook. I have the depth of knowledge needed to help move this forward.
- Make our streets safer for everyone – motorists, pedestrians, bicyclists, and public transit users. The Mayor appoints councilors to serve on committees, some of which I am already a member of, such as TPAC, and Merrimack Valley Safe Routes to School. I am past the learning curve on the transportation-related issues that affect Penacook. As Councilor, I bring the experience we need to improve the safety of our streets.
- Support key services, such as Fire, Police and General Services, and neighborhood anchors, such as our branch library, community center, schools and parks. I will focus on keeping the Sewalls Falls Bridge work on schedule. I’ll work to preserve the historic and rural character of our community, and I’ll be scrutinizing every expenditure very carefully along the way.
YOUR VOTE IS VERY IMPORTANT
