Brrr: Concord Breaks Cold Temperature Records
National Weather Service: The 28 degree temperature set Saturday and 27 degrees Sunday were the coldest on record for this time of the year.
CONCORD, NH — The city of Concord set new low temperatures this weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
On Saturday, the temperature dropped to 28 degrees during early morning hours at the weather station at Concord Airport. The previous lowest temp was 30 degrees set in 1990.
Another record low temp was set Sunday: 27 degrees. That broke the old record of 28 degrees set in both 1979 and 1993.

Temperatures have been recorded in Concord since 1868 and since that time, the temperature has never dropped below 27 degrees before Sept. 21. Sunday's 27 degrees marks the fourth time it has been that cold in the 152 years of recorded temps.
Saturday was the first freeze of the season and the earliest since 2013. Normally, forecasters said on Facebook, the first freeze tends to come closer to the last days of the month of September.

The last freeze of 2020 was in mid-May making it the shortest growing season, about 128 days, since 2013, too.
Normally, the agriculture season lasts about 136 days in the capital region.
