Brush Fire Extinguished Near Concord Homeless Camp Along Interstate 93: Watch
Firefighters extinguished a fire from a shopping cart that spread along the northbound side of Interstate 93 before Exit 14 Friday.
CONCORD, NH — Concord fire and rescue teams, police, and New Hampshire State Police troopers were sent to a brush fire along Interstate 93 on Friday.
Around 3:30 p.m., capital region fire dispatch and police began receiving calls from drivers on the highway as well as 6 Loudon Road about smoke in the area. The callers from the building said the fire was on the other side of the Merrimack River, along the Interstate before Exit 14.
A third caller told police a white man was burning items, including a shopping cart, and the fire spread from there. Another caller said a second man in the area, on a bicycle, had been hanging around the area.

One responding officer said he knew the man who was camping along the highway and would head to the call.
In about 15 minutes, firefighters extinguished the blaze.
