Join the Pope Memorial SPCA for the Frosty Paws 5K Run on Saturday, November 15! Check-in begins at 8:00 am, with the race kicking off at 9:00 am, starting from the Banks Humane Education Center (95 Silk Farm Road, Concord, NH, across from the shelter). Run or walk the 5K course to St. Paul’s School grounds and back!

Register by November 1 to receive a free race T-shirt. Dogs are welcome — must be leashed and have current rabies vaccination. Baby joggers are welcome too. All proceeds benefit the Pope Memorial SPCA’s mission to care for homeless pets and prevent animal cruelty.

Pat Hart (he/they) is the Youth Campaigns Organizer with 350NH, a state-wise climate justice organization. They coordinate and supports the 350NH Youth Team, a diverse group of student activists from across New Hampshire. Their current campaign seeks to address the injustices of PFAS pollution in the state and make polluters pay for the harm they have caused.

Michael Ansara was on the front lines. In this fascinating memoir, he traces an arc of discovery: from the hope and moral clarity of the Civil Rights Movement to the ten-year struggle to end the war in Vietnam, with its sit-ins, marches, confrontations, and antiwar riots.
Ansara takes the reader into the minds of the activists detailing their successes as well as their mistakes. The Hard Work of Hope shows how he learned to become a more effective organizer and build the Massachusetts Fair Share organization. The book explores issues that remain urgent.
