The late Ella Fitzgerald is widely regarded as one of the greatest jazz vocalists of all time. On Sunday, January 18 at 2:30 PM, Jazz Sanctuary presents Emmy Sings Ella!, featuring Pastor and vocalist Emilia “Emmy” Halstead with the Jazz Sanctuary House Band, at First Congregational Church, 79 Clinton Street, Concord.
Inspired by a lifelong love of Ella Fitzgerald’s music, Halstead brings Ella’s timeless repertoire to life in an opening jazz set. The afternoon also includes readings, conversation, prayers, and additional music exploring how imagination can deepen our awareness of beauty in the world around us.
Jazz Sanctuary is designed especially for people who don’t “do” church. There is no sermon, no pressure to participate, and no expectation to believe or behave in a particular way. Instead, the gathering centers on live jazz, thoughtful reflection, and shared experience in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere—free of judgment and open to all.
Admission is free, and all are welcome—wherever you are, and because of who you are, on your life’s journey.
