Ski-Orienteering at the French's Ledges Trails in Meriden!

Event Details

Palinfield School, School Drive, Meriden, NH

On Saturday, February 28th, the Up North Orienteers invite the public to come try ski-orienteering on the French's Ledges Trails at the Plainfield School in Meriden. This event is part of a ski-orienteering weekend that includes an event on Sunday, March 1st, at the Holderness School in Holderness.

Winter may be winding down but there is still plenty of snow making it a wonderful time to try the sport of ski-orienteering. It's the fun recreational activity and sport that is appropriate for people of all ages and athletic abilities. Beginner's through advanced courses will be set on the trails.

Orienteering is an easy to learn sport that involves navigating between points using a map and compass. Think of it as treasure hunting in the woods if you like. Ski-orienteering, its winter counterpart, involves skiing along trails to the designated points.

Preregistration, at https://eventreg.orienteeringusa.org/eventregister/register/start/2026-uno-ski-o-wknd , is requested. If you forget preregister, come anyways!! We'll register you at the event.

Participants may register and start any time between 9:30 AM and 12 Noon. There will be a special beginner's course and experienced orienteers will be on hand to help newcomers learn the basics and try their first course.

Additional information, including directions to the assembly and parking areas, may be found at the Up North Orienteers web site, https://upnoor.org/event/uno-2026-ski-o-weekend/ . Questions may be sent to the event organizer, Jim Arsenault, at jearsenault@gmail.com .
