Camper Explodes, Burns In Epsom: Watch
Epsom, Chichester, and Pittsfield firefighters, as well as police, were sent to a report of a burning fifth wheel on Colonial Drive Monday.
EPSOM, NH — Firefighters extinguished a camper fire on Monday after a report of an explosion in Epsom.
At 3 p.m., capital region dispatch began receiving calls about a possible building fire around Colonial Drive. Epsom, Chichester, and Pittsfield firefighters, including tankers, were all requested. Dispatch told firefighters they had received two calls.
Both reported “some type of explosion,” and then they both saw flames, dispatch said.

Chichester firefighters arrived first, with the commander saying it was a fifth-wheel camper fully involved.
After about 20 minutes, the fire commander asked dispatch how many more tankers were coming to the scene because there was some fire exposure to a part of the house. More firefighters arrived later and the commander did not request others. They later confirmed there was no extension of fire inside of the home — it was limited to the outside of the house.
At around 3:30 p.m., a person fell at the scene, and Northwood EMTs were requested to assist. The fire commander said the injury was not related to the fire.
Later, dispatch discovered two injuries unrelated to the fire and informed EMTs. Dispatch said the second injury was an arm injury after the second person attempted to assist the first person. The first injury involved a woman in her mid-80s who fell.
When they arrived, Northwood EMTs said they did not need a second ambulance.
The camper fire was extinguished at 3:45 p.m. Firefighters stayed on to overhaul and cleared the scene later.
