Pemigewasset River: Canoer Drowns
A canoe with two men flipped over in the Pemigewasset River Saturday; one man died and the other survived, authorities said.
WOODSTOCK, NH — A canoer drowned on the Pemigewasset River in Woodstock Saturday, state police said. The victim was identified as a 69-year-old man. His name was not immediately released. Another man in the same canoe survived the incident, police said.
Police said Saturday at about 3 p.m., Marine Patrol received a call that a canoe with two men aboard overturned. One man was able to reach shore but the other was unaccounted for. First responders then found the man's body in the river.
The incident remains under investigation.

The Pemigewasset River, also known as the "Pemi," runs about 65 miles from Franconia to Franklin.
