Guest Chef Jayson McCarter Bio:

For thirty years, Chef Jayson has found his home in the kitchen. Beginning in the Lakes Region of NH and following in the footsteps of his older brother, he has found what truly fits. With no formal training, Jayson was the youngest person ever to be assigned to the White House Presidential Food Service Team while serving in the United States Navy. Under both George Bush Sr. and William Clinton, Jayson traveled the world not only rubbing elbows with the leaders of the free world, but taking on the role of providing more personalized valet service and ensuring Food Security for the President of the United States.

In 2008, Jayson met with the New Hampshire Food Bank, a program of Catholic Charities NH. An idea was underway to start a culinary job training program to help enable unemployed or underemployed adults to learn new skills and obtain jobs with a livable wage. The program is called “Recipe for Success” and they have now graduated over 400 students since it’s inception with close to two thirds of the graduates finding better employment.

Although training wasn’t originally in the cards, it is what he has fallen in love with. The program and Chef Jayson have been featured in many publications and media outlets not only locally but nationally as well. Jayson is also the owner of McCarter Services, a platform that he uses to help small businesses with staff training, food safety training and kitchen design.

In his off time, you will find him as the “Happiest Man Alive” ... his beautiful wife Nicole and daughters Aryssa and Kendra keep him feeling like a king. And as if there were any less time in his schedule, most weekends you could find him clowning around with three other guys in a Barbershop Quartet named “On Air.” Ok, they don’t always clown around, in fact, two years ago, they won the Northeast District Convention of the Barbershop Harmony Society and traveled to Toronto to compete in the International Convention with the top 50 quartets in the world.
