Concord Police: Charles MacDaid had Oxycodone, was also charged with breach of bail.

A local man is facing drug charges after an early morning incident in June.

Charles MacDaid, 40, of Pleasant Street in Chichester, was arrested at 5:02 a.m. on June 22, and charged with felony possession of drugs, felony possession of controlled drugs, and default or breach of bail conditions.

According to an arrest report and court affidavit, at around 4:30 a.m. on the date in question, an officer saw two vehicles traveling north on South Main Street and pull into the Mobil gas station and exit their vehicles. The two drivers began yelling at each other so the officer went over to see what was going on.

The man, MacDaid, and a woman were separated.

According to the woman, she received a text message around 3:30 a.m. from MacDaid saying that he was sleeping at the Burger King parking lot when police arrived and woke him up. The police told him to sleep at a friend’s house. The officer on the call was also the one who handled the previous call, according to the report.

MacDaid kept texting her but stopped and she became concerned for his welfare and drove to the friend’s house to see if he was OK. MacDaid was reportedly parked in front of the house asleep in the car and she work him up. She asked if this was his friend’s house and he reportedly stated that he wasn’t sure. When she went to go over to the house to check, MacDaid reportedly drove away.

Concerned that he might fall asleep on the road, she followed him and was talking with him on the phone. MacDaid reportedly told her to stop following him and stopped at the gas station.

MacDaid, according to the officer, was also distraught and agitated, and told his side of the story. He reportedly stated that he didn’t want to wake up his friend so he slept outside. MacDaid began to cry and alleged that the woman was always trying to get him arrested.

In the report, the officer said he believed he had probably cause to arrest MacDaid because he might continue to text the woman or cause injury to himself, due to his “heightened level of emotion.” While securing his property, an officer found a folded up dollar bill in his jeans with Oxycodone in it. More charges were added and he was held on $12,000 cash bail and arraigned on June 23.
