CONCORD, NH — As you may have noticed while galavanting around Downtown Concord, doing your last minute Christmas and other holiday shopping, there were few parking spaces and a lot of snow piled up.

That is what happens when two feet of snow drops on the city of Concord.

The storm broke records, according to the National Weather Service. The 24.2 inches of snow measured at Concord Airport, an official reporting station, was the snowiest day ever in New Hampshire's capital city. The previous record was 24 inches measured on March 12, 1888. The storm was also the second biggest snowstorm ever. The 1888 storm dumped 27.5 inches on the city during a three-day period, according to forecasters.

During this time period, there will be no on-street parking on any downtown street in red on this map. The city wants residents to know that this map has been expanded when compared to prior winter maintenance parking ban maps.

Anyone who leaves their vehicles on downtown streets during this cleanup period is subject to ticketing and towing by Concord police.

Free parking is available in city garages on School, Storrs, and North State streets until 8 a.m. Monday in permit-lease spaces and 9 a.m. in metered spaces.

More information can be found here on the city's winter operations website.

BTW: The NWS also put together this map, if you missed it, noting a 48-inch report out of Danbury — an unbelievable amount of snow and easily one for the record books beyond just Concord.
