Why am I running for reelection?

I have put in three wonderful working years representing District C (Wards 8, 9 and 10) on the Concord School District Board. The experience coupled with my teaching and coaching experience served the Concord children and community well. I would really like to continue the work we have started and want to finish. Currently I have been serving as the chairman of the Capital Facilities committee. We as a board have plenty on our plate to accomplish. The most current is the conversion from steam heat to gas. This came up quickly and I want to continue the work on this through its conclusion by October 2017. I also want to be part of the first Concord School Board that started full day kindergarten. My job will be to find space and the money for these young learners. I also have been assigned to the committee to study Rundlet Middle School. If we decide to build a new school, then I really want to see this through and be part of a board that made this happen. There will be many more budget sessions and I feel that I’m now qualified to help with this balance between getting what we need and keeping the tax rate as low as possible. I do believe we have accomplished that the past three years. This coming budget in particular will be a challenging one with many large expenses to deal with.

Priorities

As a Concord taxpayer, I understand the burden of paying our property taxes. I will do my best to make sure the tax rate does not get out of control. I also have experience in dealing with curriculum, which I will support the Common Core State Standards and competency education from K-12. As stated above my experiences will help make good decisions for the children and community of Concord. These are just a few of many areas that I will serve and give my best efforts.
