Community Conversation: North Main Historic District

All are welcome on Wed. 11/16, 5 PM at Kimball Jenkins Estate

The Concord Historical Society, Kimball Jenkins Estate (KJE), and Pierce Brigade join in throwing open the KJE Mansion doors on Wednesday, November 16, 5:00 – 6:30 PM for a Community Conversation about the North Main Historic District. All neighbors, nonprofits, local officials, businesses, and history buffs are welcome to be part of the conversation as we explore how to define and celebrate Concord’s North Main Historic District. Attendees will enjoy delectable refreshments and engaging conversation.

Ward 4 City Councilor Byron Champlin will guide the evening, which will consist of three parts: district history overview, inspiration from other historic districts, and open conversation.

Jennifer Kretovic, Ward 3 City Councilor and local history aficionado, will share stories of the North Main Historic District, including history of the Kimball Jenkins Estate, Old North Cemetery, Pierce Manse, and more.

Examples, inspiration, and images from other historic districts will be shared in a presentation by Kim Murdoch, who recently joined Kimball Jenkins Estate as Director of Philanthropy.

All attendees will then be invited to take part in an exploration of how to help initiate a long-range plan to recognize, celebrate, and promote Concord’s North Main Historic District.
