Explore 50 Years of NHTI History
Mark your calendar for Th. 9/17, 6 PM @ NHTI’s Student Center
The Concord Chats roving history series of free, family-friendly events is back! The fall/winter session kicked off this week with a terrific talk on “How to Research Your Historic Property” – more than 30 attendees enjoyed this program presented by the Concord Heritage Commission and hosted at the Concord Public Library.
Next week’s Concord Chats program explores the 50-year history of NHTI, Concord’s Community College, from a variety of unique perspectives. All are welcome to attend the free program on Thursday, September 17, 6:00 p.m. in the Student Center Rotunda at NHTI.
Speakers will include the President of NHTI, Dr. Susan B. Dunton, and Professor Stuart “Stu” Wallace, sharing the story of NHTI’s 50 year history. NHTI Student Morgyn Soucy and NHTI Professor Sandra Beliveau will highlight the ways NHTI has impacted them, along with their impact on the College.
Presenter Duene Cowan, a member of NHTI’s Class of 1977, has a very special continued connection to the College. In 2009, Duene, owner of local firm Cowan Goudreau Architects, designed the newest building on NHTI’s campus: Grappone Hall. He also designed and built the clock tower on Concord’s Main Street.
While enjoying a wonderful lineup of presenters, attendees can also partake in refreshments to include fruit, cookies, water, tea, and coffee. Learn more about upcoming Concord Chats events by visitingwww.Concord250.org.

Abbot-Downing is fast approaching their deadline to raise the funds needed to purchase (6) Abbot-Downing vehicles. The purchase of these vehicles will ensure they stay in Concord where they were built by Abbot-Downing. If the $100,000 goal isn’t reached, these vehicles will leave Concord forever; a coach museum in the Midwest is waiting to purchase them.
Please watch this video for more in-depth information on Abbot-Downing, their vehicles and efforts to keep these (6) vehicles here in Concord to be preserved for future generations. Any donations will be greatly appreciated!
This collection is a once in a lifetime opportunity to preserve a part of Concord and New Hampshire history for current and future generations.
