Concord Baby Assaulter Gets 20 Years

A man from Laconia who assaulted a local baby last year has been sentenced to 20 years in prison, according to media reports.

Scott Diberto, 26, pled guilty to four felony assault charges after being indicted on more than a dozen charges.

The assault occurred in January 2014 on Ormond Street in Concord about a month after Diberto and the mother of the baby moved into the apartment. He was babysitting at the time of the assault, and made a number of excuses about how the assaults occurred.

After nearly three weeks of investigating the incident, including interviews with the mother, Diberto, and others, and viewing text messages and gathering other evidence, like a bloody pillow from the apartment and seizing a minivan, he was arrested and held.

The baby, according to the reports, has permanent brain damage.
