Concord Crimeline Seeks Tips About Accused Credit Card Skimmer
Concord police are investigating credit card skimmers affixed to machines at Walmart on Loudon Road and Market Basket on Storrs Street.

CONCORD, NH — Police are asking for the public’s help identifying a man who may have been involved in installing credit card skimmers at two stores in Concord.
On Oct. 19, police were sent to Walmart at 344 Loudon Road after receiving a report from a loss prevention associate who found a “credit card skimmer” attached to a register in the self-checkout lane.
Eight days later, police were called to Market Basket at 80 Storrs Street for another skimmer put on one of their credit card machines, according to Lt. Marc McGonagle of the Concord Police Department.

“(The) investigation determined that both devices had been installed by the same two individuals on Oct. 17,” he said. “Similar incidents are being investigated by law enforcement agencies throughout New England.”
Based on the functionality of the devices, sensitive information from credit and debit cards is obtained by the device and relayed to a third party, McGonagle said.

“A telltale sign with these particular ‘skimmers’ is that the card chip reader slot is inoperable and appears ‘jammed,’ causing the customer to swipe the card so that the magnetic reader can steal the card information,” he said.
Police released screenshots of the suspect caught on security cameras at the stores.
