Concord Firefighters Extinguish Burning Car And Dumpster Fire

A car ablaze outside of Domino's, an overdose on Fisherville Road, and a fire behind Game Stop kept Concord firefighters busy on Wednesday.

CONCORD, NH — Concord fire and rescue teams were sent to two fires on Wednesday — a car fire outside of a pizza establishment on North Main Street and a dumpster fire on Fort Eddy Road, and an overdose in between.

The first call came in just after 8:30 p.m., a report of a vehicle fire in the parking lot of Domino's Pizza on North Main Street, with dispatch reporting it was about 10 feet from the building.

When firefighters and police arrived, they found flames coming from the backseat of a Volkswagen sedan. The battalion commander said there was no exposure to the building and held some other firefighters who were being sent to the fire. Police posted cones to keep drivers out of the parking lot while firefighters worked the fire. The car fire was out by 8:45 p.m. and fire prevention was requested, according to dispatch.

Just after 9:30 p.m., firefighters were sent to Fort Eddy Road, behind the Game Stop store, for a dumpster fire, with exposure to the building.

When the first firefighters arrived, they confirmed there was a fire and exposure to the building and requested a second engine but also canceled the third engine that was also being called to assist.

It took the firefighters a few minutes to put out the dumpster fire. The battalion commander said the firefighters would be checking the building for smoke and then, clearing the call.
