CONCORD, NH — Concord firefighters as well as a fire utility task vehicle from Chichester assisted in what turned out to be quite an unusual call Monday: People stuck in mud in Concord. Around 5 p.m., fire and rescue teams, including boats, were sent to the area off Loudon Road for a report of a person stuck in some mud in the river. After responding to the call and attempting to find the person to no avail, firefighters were then sent to the area behind Buffalo Wild Wings in the cornfield.

The area is known to be a homeless camp off the river. Firefighters used a GPS signal from the caller's phone attempting to find him – a man who claimed to be about waist deep in mud. The command staff at the scene requested the UTV from Chichester to get deeper into the field because they were worried the fire truck might get stuck (currently, according to fire officials, the city's UTV is getting outfitted).

The firefighters were wading in waist high water throughout the rescue, according to officials. Three people and a dog were found in the mud and brought out. One was taken to Concord Hospital for treatment, according to scanner chatter.
