Concord Girl Scouts Are Wrapping Gifts For Donations: Watch

The Girl Scouts of Green and White Mountains will be wrapping gifts through Christmas Eve at Books-A-Million and Eastern Mountain Sports.

CONCORD, NH — Girl Scouts of Green and White Mountains troops in Concord and the capital region have been wrapping presents this year for about a week and a half and will continue through Christmas Eve.

The girls, parents, and mentors are utilizing Books-A-Million and Eastern Mountain Sports, both on Fort Eddy Road in Concord, to wrap gifts this year. They have seen a brisk traffic flow so far. In the past, the scouts have raised thousands of dollars for programming and hope to do so again this year. Last year, around $4,700 was raised, according to Sheila Morris, when the scouts were stationed at the Steeplegate Mall. Donations of $5 or more will be accepted.

Rachel, a Merrimack Valley High School student, has been wrapping presents for two holiday seasons. She and the other girls will use the money raised to offset the cost of a trip to Saint Lucia in April. Rachel said she hoped to work in nursing after high school.

Nineteen girls are participating this year from Concord, Penacook, Hopkinton, Franklin, Boscawen, Loudon, and other communities. They have also partnered with other organizations, too.

Organizers advise, though, if you have a lot of gifts to be wrapped, make an appointment because there can sometimes only be a scout and a parent or mentor on hand — and it can get busy. Morris said one customer last week brought in 36 presents to wrap.
