CONCORD, NH — A Concord High School basketball coach has abruptly resigned. David Chase, a physical education teacher in the Hopkinton School District who had been the coach in Concord for about three years, resigned Monday. The reasons for his resignation are unknown at post time.

Chase, according to his online resume, has been a basketball coach around New England for nearly 30 years including almost 20 at Hopkinton Middle High School, where he also coaches other sports. When he came to coach Concord in May 2016, Steve Mello, the athletic director for SAU 8, told the Concord Monitor that Chase was "the total package" and would be "a program builder" for the school. Chase had more than 300 wins at Hopkinton and more than 430 in his coaching career including three state championships.

For the 2016-2017 season, Concord's team was 4-14; for the 2017-2018 season, the team was 7-14, according to maxpreps.com.
