Concord Hospital Nurse On Leave After Giving Newborn To Wrong Mom
A Family Place nurse has been placed on administrative leave after an "unfortunate case of human error" of giving a baby to the wrong mom.

CONCORD, NH — A nurse at The Family Place at Concord Hospital, the center that handles birthing and maternity care at the hospital, is on leave after reportedly giving the wrong newborn to a mother during a feeding session. WHDH-TV reported Wednesday that the newborn received formula Sunday while in the patient care unit from the incorrect mother. The formula was part of the baby's feeding plan.
Concord Hospital confirmed that the nurse is on leave for the "unfortunate case of human error, via spokesperson, Jennifer Dearborn.
"Within 10 minutes, the error was discovered and the infant was returned to his/her mother," she said. "Both mothers have been informed of the error and no harm to the infant occurred."

Lisa Lylyk, the grandmother of the parent, posted a video on saying she was "completely shocked" and "utterly disgusted" with what happened. She said that there was also an alarm that was sounding that the baby was with the wrong mother.
Dearborn stated that the nurse who made the mistake had "acknowledged the error and is remorseful," while adding that "it is standard protocol that Family Place staff match the proper identity of each infant and mother via their hospital identification wristbands."
