Hydrant Flushing (Concord General Services)

The City of Concord will begin flushing hydrants on Monday, April 7. For several weeks, crews from Concord General Services will flush hydrants in different areas of the city as part of necessary routine maintenance of the City’s water distribution system.

This annual practice flushes out any naturally occurring sediment within the pipes. Annual hydrant flushing maintains Concord’s water quality, checks water pressure, and ensures the proper operation of distribution system components, such as valves and hydrants.

Water customers may experience low water pressure or discoloration when flushing occurs in the area. Customers are advised to avoid doing laundry during their scheduled flushing times and if discoloration occurs to run the cold water tap until it runs clear to flush the line.
