Concord Man Allegedly Assaults Ex-Wife
Police: When she didn't want to become sexually intimate, Kevin Harrington assaulted, held the woman against her will.

A local man was held on cash bail after allegedly assaulting his ex-wife, during an attempt to become sexually intimate.
Kevin R. Harrington, 46, of Concord, was arrested at 1:47 a.m. on July 14, and charged with two counts of simple assault (personal weapons) and false imprisonment.
Officers were called to Alice Drive for a report of a domestic in progress between a man and woman who were formerly married. The woman alleged her ex, Harrington, had pushed her, according to an arrest report and court affidavit.

Officers arrived to a woman screaming for help inside the home. As an officer approached the home, she allegedly saw someone close a window and turn a light out, while hearing a woman scream, “Get off me!”
The officer warned twice, “Concord Police, come outside!,” but no one came out, so the officer kicked the door in and made her way through the home, attempting to find the woman who later screamed, “Don’t touch me!”

The officer attempted to find the woman and later, allegedly heard a man ordering the police to get out from inside a room. The officer pushed the door open but was only able to get it open about two inches before meeting resistance. As another officer arrived, the door opened and the officers separated Harrington and the woman.
During questioning, Harrington reportedly said he and his ex had been drinking at Cheers and later, took a cab to the Makris Lobster & Steakhouse for more drinks. The woman later left with another couple and he took a cab to Alice Drive. However, when he got to the home, the doors were locked and he was unable to get in. He reportedly went to the bedroom window and spoke with his ex who later let him into the home. The two started to argue, something he allegedly called “playful.” Harrington reportedly told officers that he hoped they would be intimate and allegedly admitted that was the reason he took her out and bought her drinks. When asked if he had gotten physical at any time, Harrington reportedly stated there was mutual contact between the two of them, with each pushing the other around.
The officer then spoke to the woman who apologized and said she was “embarrassed” by the incident. She confirmed that the two had dinner at Cheers but stated she didn’t drink around Harrington. Later, she thought it might be OK. They later went dancing at Makris. But once there, she alleged, he became confrontational and was highly intoxicated. The woman stated that she thought Harrington was getting drinks at the bar when she couldn’t see him. She decided to head home when things got uncomfortable.
In the parking lot at Makris, the woman alleged that Harrington followed her out to the car with her friends and became “violent and grabbed onto her, pulling her out of the vehicle.”
Harrington, she alleged, appeared to be on a binge, something that happened when he would drink and she wouldn’t see him for days, she stated. She suspected he was on another binge and went home.
When Harrington arrived at the home later, she hesitated letting him. But later agreed so long as he agreed to sleep on the couch, the affidavit stated. Harrington allegedly became physical with her when she didn’t want to be sexually intimate with him. The woman alleged that Harrington grabbed her pants and ripped them along the zipper, in an attempt to be sexual.
“(The woman) showed me her pants and I noticed that the top button was missing and her pants appeared to be ripped along the zipper,” the officer reported.
A scuffle ensued, and she ended up on the floor and later, trapped in a bathroom with Harrington, she alleged, adding she didn’t remember how they ended up in the bathroom. She reportedly asked to leave and Harrington wouldn’t let her, she alleged.
Harrington was arrested and held on $5,000 cash bail. He was arraigned on July 15.
