Concord Man Arrested for Second-Degree Assault

Police arrest Anthony Landry on numerous charges.

A local man will be arraigned later this week on a slew of charges after being arrested last month for allegedly assaulting his wife.

Anthony W. Landry, 37, of Pitman Street in Concord, was arrested at 2:55 a.m. on Sept. 1, on felony second-degree assault, simple assault, obstructing report of crime of injury, and criminal mischief.

Officers and a sergeant were sent to Pitman Street after a man called 911 and alleged that his wife had hit him in the face, according to an arrest report. When they arrived, they encountered a woman at the entrance of the complex who was “shaking and emotionally distraught,” with a bleeding lip. The man, Landry, arrived in his wheelchair, allegedly yelling, “She hit me.”

The two were separated with Landry reporting that they had been arguing all day and that he was frustrated. He reportedly suggested that she get a job and then gave her an ultimatum. She became infuriated, he alleged, and punched him in the temple with a closed fist. Landry allegedly struck back in self-defense, and then he called police.

The officer noticed that his temple was red, according to the report.

The woman alleged that Landry had been “mean” to her all day, calling her derogatory names and pestering her to find a job. Landry’s colostomy bag exploded sometime during the fight, and she cleaned up the mess. She then told him that she wanted to go to bed.

But the two continued to argue. The woman stated that she was ready to leave the apartment and Landry requested that she help him get access to his medications and she said, No. Landry then stood up in his wheelchair and allegedly bumped her with his stomach causing her to fall. She started to get up and Landry allegedly began choking her. She tried to call 911 but Landry reportedly ripped the cellphone out of her hands, broke it, and threw it somewhere in the room (it was later found in a trash can). Landry then allegedly punched her in the lip.

When asked if she felt a shortness of breath while being choked, she said Yes, adding that she couldn’t breathe.

Landry was then arrested. He’s due in court on Oct. 15.
