Concord Man Charged with Theft in Dunbarton
Police say Matthew Engel took money from the Page's Country Store & Deli cash register.

A local man was arrested yesterday after allegedly stealing money from the store he worked at.
Matthew Engel, 30, of Concord, was arrested on Jan. 22, 2015, and charged with two counts of theft by unauthorized taking.
According to Dunbarton Police, Engel was working at Page’s Country Store & Deli on Concord Stage Road in Dunbarton and is alleged to have taken money from the store’s cash register on at least two separate occasions in January.

“Engel’s actions were caught on the store’s surveillance system,” according to Sgt. Chris Remillard of the Dunbarton Police Department. “Police initiated the investigation after being contacted by the store’s owner on Jan. 19.”
After investigating the matter, police took out a warrant for Engel’s arrest and he turned himself in to police on Jan. 22.

Engel is due in Concord District Court on March 9.
