CONCORD, NH — The retail squeeze continues with more bad news for Sears and Kmart stores and the employees left working for them: 96 more stores are closing. According to the USA Today, Transformco, the parent company of Sears, which also owns Kmart, is beginning liquidation sales in December. Four stores are closing in New Hampshire: Sears locations at the Steeplegate Mall in Concord and the Pheasant Lane Mall in Nashua, and Kmart locations in Hooksett on Hooksett Road and the Salem location on South Broadway.

Two Sears stores will remain open in New Hampshire: Swanzey and West Lebanon. The Kmart in West Lebanon is also expected to stay open.

The store closure announcement comes as the company secured $250 million in new financing to get it through the holiday season. The report noted that during the past 15 years, more than a quarter of a million jobs have been lost as more than 3,500 stores have closed.
