Concord Officials to Discuss Exit 16 Roundabout Next Week

Construction at the intersection of Mountain Road, East Side Drive, Shawmut Street, just east of I-93 is expected to begin this spring.

CONCORD, NH — The city of Concord is hosting a public hearing next week to discuss the construction of a roundabout just to the east of Exit 16 on I-93, at the intersection of East Side Drive, Mountain Road, and Shawmut Street. The city of Concord's Community Development Department and Engineering Services Division are hosting a public meeting from 6 to 8 p.m. on April 4, 2017, in the Broken Ground Elementary School cafeteria at 51 South Curtisville Road in Concord.

The intersection redesign is part of the Central New Hampshire Regional Planning Commission’s Transportation Improvement Program for the next 10 fiscal year. Traffic off the Interstate and onto three different residential areas of East Concord – during peak travel times – is noted to be “problematic,” according to the study.

Constructed is slated to begin later this spring. The city put a bid out for the project in October for around $1.3 million, according to press reports from last year.
