Concord Police Arrest Man On Child Sex Charges
Concord Police say Darpan Kirat Rai groomed victim for sexual assaults at a very young age and assaults began in grade school.
CONCORD NH – Concord Police arrested a 36-year-old man Tuesday morning on 13 counts of felony sexual assault involving a minor.
Concord Police, with the assistance of the United States Marshal’s Service and the Barrington Police Department, arrested Darpan Kirat Rai in Rochester, according to a CPD statement. Rai was charged with eight counts of pattern sexual assault, two counts of use of force or violence and five counts of no consent.
The statement said the arrest was made without resistance at 8:15 a.m. Rai is scheduled to appear in Concord District Court Wednesday morning.

Police say an investigation began in May after someone who knew the victim reported possible long-term sexual abuse. Police say the crimes occurred in the Concord, Barrington and Boscawen jurisdictions. The statement said detective interviews and evidence corroborated the allegation and police determined Rai “groomed his victim at a very young age and began perpetrating sexual assaults against the victim when the victim was a child in grade school.”
Police say the abuse continued over many years and involved force, threats of force and coercion.

More charges may be forthcoming in Merrimack and other jurisdictions.
