Concord Police, Fire, Troopers Kept Busy With Crash, Fuel Spill, And Homeless Camp Fire: Video

CONCORD, NH — Concord police, firefighters, and state police were kept busy Thursday afternoon with a homeless camp fire near Interstate 393, a crash at the Exit 14 interchange, and a fuel spill on Fort Eddy Road.

Around 2:15 p.m., Concord Fire Alarm sent firefighters to I-393 and Exit 1 for a report of smoke coming from the area of the Merrimack River. A few minutes later, New Hampshire State Police were also sent to the scene for a report of smoke coming from a camp in the area of the Interstate and Fort Eddy Road.

When state troopers arrived, they confirmed the fire was off Fort Eddy Road, and the smoke was from homeless campers burning trash.

Just before 2:30 p.m., firefighters were sent to Intervale Road for a report of a fuel spill from a truck. According to police dispatch, the entire fuel pump dislodged from a truck towing a camper.

When firefighters arrived at Intervale, they confirmed about 25 to 30 gallons of gasoline had spilled. They requested more firefighters to assist with the cleanup, but dispatch was unable to send anyone.

“I’ve got everybody committed at this point,” the dispatcher said.

Tower 1 then cleared and headed to the area to assist.

The truck driver arranged to have their truck and camper towed from the scene.

A couple of minutes later, fire dispatch said the troopers would be able to handle the homeless trash fire and firefighters were reassigned to other calls.

Police and firefighters were then sent to a crash near the Exit 14 interchange.

State police, according to police dispatch, could not send any troopers because they were tied up with other calls. An officer told dispatch there appeared to be no injuries. The crash involved a Toyota driven by a woman from Chichester and a Nissan driven by a woman from Antrim.

Two tow trucks were requested.

At 2:45 p.m., the Intervale incident was cleared and firefighters were sent to alarm activations at the Railyard Apartments and Chenelle Drive.
