Concord Police Investigating Hit-And-Run Crash Involving A Pedestrian

Clinton Street was closed for more than 6 hours after an early morning hit-and-run that led to a man being taken to the hospital on Monday.

CONCORD, NH — Clinton Street was closed for more than six hours on Monday after a pedestrian was struck and a vehicle fled the scene of the crash.

Fire and rescue teams and police were sent to the area of the South Concord Meadows Apartment complex at 99 Clinton St. just before 5 a.m. for a report of a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle. Fire dispatch reported the man was down and had injuries. Police dispatch reported a suspect vehicle continued to drive toward McKee Square.

According to scanner chatter, the victim described the vehicle as a possible SUV that was of a dark color.

When firefighters and EMTs arrived, the fire commander requested a trauma alert at Concord Hospital, and the man was taken to the emergency room.

Police attempted to reroute traffic but later closed the street from South Fruit Street and Langley Parkway. An officer at the scene reported finding a mirror, possibly from the passenger side of the vehicle. Several witnesses were interviewed immediately after the crash.

Deputy Chief John Thomas of the Concord Police Department confirmed the incident was being investigated as a hit-and-run crash.

A relative of the victim reported on Facebook the man was being taken to Boston for treatment of “many injuries.”

The roadway was reopened around 11:30 a.m.
