The driver, a man from Epsom, was taken to Concord Hospital on Thursday night after a crash at Route 106 and Loudon Road.
CONCORD, NH — Concord police are investigating why the driver of a minivan crashed into a guardrail, drove down an embankment, and struck a tree on Thursday night.
Just after 9:15 p.m., police dispatch began receiving reports of a vehicle crash at the intersection of Sheep Davis Road and Loudon Road. When the first officer arrived, they reported the vehicle crashed into a guardrail on the east side of Route 106. The officer began walking in the snow toward the crash, saying it was about 150 yards from the road.
The driver, the officer said, did not appear to be injured. The vehicle was identified as a Dodge Caravan and the driver was a man from Epsom in his mid-50s.

The officer requested other officers shut the road down just before 9:45 p.m.
Concord fire and rescue teams were requested and New Hampshire State Police also showed up.
During the investigation, the first officer and dispatch attempted to clarify the driver’s name. At one point during the discussion, they realized the names were not matching.
“I’m not sure if that is intentional or not,” he said. “He’s very out of it.”

While the driver did not appear injured, the officer surmised he might be having a medical episode. He was extricated from the vehicle just before 10 p.m.
A tow truck was requested to assess the situation and determine what special equipment would be needed to tow the minivan back up to the intersection.
The driver was evaluated and taken to Concord Hospital.
Around 10:15 p.m., the tow company driver said they would return in the morning to fetch the minivan.
