Concord Police Investigating New Racist Graffiti Incident in South End

Sometime between Saturday evening, Aug. 4, and early Sunday morning, Aug. 5, black marker scrawlings appeared on a Thompson Street home, according to police.

The writer stated in the markings that “we can not coexist with third world scum. The primitive beasts like those in this house are to blame for the crimes we now suffer.” The writer closed by saying, “Love your legals, Deport the rest,” taking a jab at that emerged around Concord in the wake of the previous graffiti incidents.

This is the third graffiti incident in the last year targeting residents from another country in the South End, although the latest graffiti was north of the . Despite a reward offering and the getting involved in the investigation, the previous incidents remain unsolved.

“They were targeted purely because of their race and culture,” said Lt. of the Concord Police Department. “This is very similar to what happened last year. We’re definitely exploring the possibility that the incidents are connected.”

Not unlike last year’s incidents, this latest graffiti incident targeted immigrants from another country although police would not get into the specifics of where the people orginated or whether or not they are currently legal or illegal. O’Malley did call the residents “good citizens,” who were both employed, living in a home where the police have “virtually no contact,” meaning that the address is not a problem home frequented by police.

“They are great neighbors, from our perspective,” he said. “None of these (residents) have problems in the community. We can only assume that the reason (for the graffiti) is that this is a racial or cultural issue. We can’t find any other motives but we just don’t know yet either.”

The police are asking residents who may have seen something between the hours of 11 p.m. on Saturday and 6 a.m. on Sunday on Thompson Street to get in touch with investigators so they can solve the case.
