Concord Police Investigating Shooting On Hanover Street: Watch
At least one shot was fired and two people were detained at an apartment between School and Centre streets on Thursday night.
CONCORD, NH — Police are investigating a shooting on Hanover Street on Thursday night.
Around 7:30 p.m., officers were sent to the area between School and Centre streets for a report of six juveniles, dressed in hoodies and masks, yelling at each other outside an apartment. A witness reported hearing a gunshot and then a voice saying, “Keep shooting them,” according to dispatch.
As officers arrived, witnesses reported the suspects were inside an SUV on School Street. Other neighborhood residents also reported to police they heard shots fired.

Police closed off the area and questioned people inside the SUV. One officer requested to speak to two people inside the SUV about the fight at the basketball game at Concord High School last Friday.
“It’s not important right now,” another officer said. “We’ll deal with that in a bit.”

According to dispatch, the SUV driver had an active warrant and was released about two hours later on a small summons and personal recognizance. Another juvenile was taken into custody due to alcohol intoxication.
Another witness reported the shooter was in another Hanover Street apartment. The witness reported they saw the shooter enter the apartment on a Ring camera.
The apartment was the same one involved in a reported armed home invasion in late November 2023. One officer stated she had dealt with a person at the apartment the day before.
Officers gave multiple descriptions of the suspects hiding in the apartment based on witnesses and the security camera footage. A watch commander told officers in the field it looked as if one of the suspects fired a gun in the air and then dropped the gun outside before entering the apartment.
Officers surrounded the apartment and took a male and a female into custody around 8 p.m.
Detectives were called in, as well as more patrol units, according to dispatch. Hopkinton police also sent two units to the city and state troopers arrived to assist.
Police spent the next 90 minutes questioning witnesses and canvassing the area. Others were released from the scene.
Later, one of the officers received a report that one of the people involved recorded the incident on their cellphone. Another officer stated the person had already been released from the scene.
Around 9:45 p.m., one of the Concord officers heard screaming from one of the apartments. A Hopkinton officer posted nearby also confirmed hearing the screaming. Officers checked out the building but did not report finding anyone inside.
News 603 posted a video on Facebook from the scene.
