CONCORD, NH — The Concord Regional Crimeline has issued an alert asking for the public’s help solving two possible arsons in Penacook that occurred on Monday morning.

Around 1 a.m., Concord fire and rescue teams were sent to the Penacook Elementary School at 60 Village St. to extinguish a gazebo in the playground “fully engulfed by fire,” according to Deputy Chief John Thomas of the Concord Police Department.

The fire was extinguished and firefighters cleared the scene around 2 a.m.

“Due to the amount of fire and amount of furniture stored inside,” Concord Fire Chief John Chisholm said, “crews initiated a defensive fire attack by spraying large volumes of water into the building through the windows.”

The fire eventually went to two alarms and was brought under control around 4:45 a.m.

No one was injured in either fire.

The city of Concord Fire Marshal, the Concord Police Department, and the State Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating both fires, Thomas said, and are asking for the public’s help.

“Members of the public are also asked to check their home camera systems for any suspicious activity during the hours leading up to, as well as after, the blazes,” he said.
