Concord's Festive Saturday

Get out and enjoy these weekend events.

Here are 5 Things to know about this weekend in Concord:

1. Sunday looks good. Weather forecasters are calling for rain and snow showers on Saturday, probably before 11 a.m. with temperatures in the high 20s, and then a chance of showers later in the day. Expect temps to rise back up in the low 40s. On Sunday, expect sunny skies with highs on the 30s. Overnight lows will be down in the teens on Sunday.

2. One last chance to see Santa. The Knights of Columbus will hold a pancake breakfast with Santa at the Immaculate Conception Parish at 8 a.m. on Saturday. Tickets are $3 to $6. He’ll also know who is naughty and nice so you better get it together now kiddos.

3. Los Posadas. The Red River Theatres present two shows only, at noon and 2 p.m., on Saturday, of a special presentation of Tomie dePaola’s 1999 award-winning book, accompanied by local musicians. Tickets are $15.

4. Organ, hymn recital and sing. , hosts a Christmas celebration featuring an organ recital and hymn sing at 2 p.m. on Saturday. The event is free and all are welcome.

5. Amahl & the Night Visitors. All Saints Anglican Church hosts a free Christmas musical presentation, an opera by Gian Carlo Menotti, at the Concord City Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. According to members of the church, in previous years, they’ve offered “A Dickens Christmas” and decided to try something different this year. Church members said that attendees can expect “some very talented performers” from the church’s art ministry. It will be a great, free event for the entire family, according to church members.
