Concord School District: Important Dates To Know
Update: SAU8 revised its 2019-2020 calendar with a new start date. CHS clarifies start dates. Here are dates families need to know.
CONCORD, NH — It's almost time to head back-to-school in Concord. Here are some important dates that families with children in the Concord School District SAU8 need to know about for the 2019-2020 school year. The first day of school has been pushed back in order to allow for teacher training dealing with the recent changes in employee "professional expectations" policies dealing with student interaction, sexual harassment, and other issues, in the wake of the arrest of distinguished educator Primo "Howie" Leung on child rape charges.
The first day of school for Concord children other than seniors, juniors, and sophomores, will be Wednesday, Aug. 28.
At Concord High School, freshmen are expected to be at school Wednesday - school pictures will be taken that day. School for all other high school students starts on Thursday, Aug. 29.

There is no school on Friday, Aug. 30.
Friday, Oct. 11, is a professional day so there will be no school. There will also be no school on Columbus Day, Monday, Oct. 14.

Another professional-no school day is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 8. There will be no school on Veterans Day, Monday, Nov. 11, and the Thanksgiving recess will be held from Wednesday, Nov. 27, to Friday, Nov. 29. Expect parent-teacher conferences between Nov. 21, and Nov. 25.
The holiday recess is Monday, Dec. 23, to Jan. 1, 2020. Students are expected back at school on Friday, Jan. 2.
Martin Luther King Jr. Day is Monday, Jan. 20, and a professional day with no school is booked for Monday, Jan. 27.
February vacation is Monday, Feb. 24, to Friday, Feb. 28.
Another teacher professional day is slated for Friday, March 20.
April vacation is scheduled for April 27, to May 1.
School will also be closed on Monday, May 25, for Memorial Day.
The last day of school for the 2019-2020 school year is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, June 11, with graduation booked for Saturday, June 13.
