Concord Woman Faces DWI, Drug Charges

Police arrested Cassandra Croswell after a traffic stop in the North End two weeks ago.

A local woman was arrested earlier this month on drunk driving and drug charges after an early morning traffic stop.

Cassandra Croswell, 26, of Thorndike Street in Concord, was arrested at 1:55 a.m. on May 6, 2015, and charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, two counts of driving while intoxicated, felony possession of controlled drugs, and possession of drugs. She was also cited for a yellow/solid line violation.

According to an arrest report, an officer was following a Saturn sedan on North State Street around 1:30 a.m. that was reportedly drifting in the travel lane and crossing over the white line. When the vehicle turned onto Church Street, it was pulled over.

Croswell, the driver, reportedly told the officer she had just gotten off work downtown, picked up her roommate and a friend, and was dropping them off. She was reportedly smoking a cigarette and was asked to put it out, which she did.

The reporting officer alleged that Croswell was having difficulty getting the registration out of the glove compartment. After two tries, she reportedly sat back and told the officer it was stolen from her car after the vehicle was broken into, pointing to shattered glass on the floor. She stated that she filed a police report but hadn’t gotten a new one yet, according to the report.

Croswell allegedly had red eyes, smelled like alcohol, and was slurring her words while speaking. She was asked to take a field sobriety test and was allegedly unsteady on her feet as she got out of the car and swayed as she walked. Croswell was later arrested.

During and after the test, she was allegedly hostile, according to the report, and was swearing and speaking inappropriately.

During an inventory of her possessions, officers allegedly found pills in her purse that were identified as amphetamine and dextroamphetamine, and those charges were added.
