Congresswoman Kuster Shares Alzheimer's Struggle at The Birches

Emphasizes Need For Greater Resources in Granite State and Nationwide

Every day in New Hampshire, tens of thousands of individuals are impacted by Alzheimer’s disease. To shine a light on their struggle, The Birches at Concord in Concord, N.H., a Benchmark (www.BenchmarkSeniorLiving.com) memory care community, recently hosted Representative Annie Kuster of New Hampshire’s 2nd Congressional District.

Originally from Concord, Kuster was personally impacted by Alzheimer’s disease when her late mother, Susan McLane, was diagnosed. She shared with community family members and caregivers the toll the disease took on her own family both emotionally and financially.

“Annie knew about half of our residents and families and had a personal connection with them, which was nice,” says Chuck Crush, executive director of The Birches at Concord.
