Convicted Drug Dealer Gets 30 Months for Assault
Ruben Garcia, an inmate at FCI-Berlin, assaulted another inmate with a homemade weapon in September of last year.

CONCORD, NH — A current inmate convicted of drug dealing has been given another 30 months after pleading guilty to prison assault, according to the U.S. District Court. Ruben Garcia, 32, an inmate at FCI-Berlin, was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison on April 17, 2017, after pleading guilty to assaulting another inmate with a homemade weapon.
Acting-U.S. Attorney John Farley said in a press statement that Garcia’s sentence will be consecutive to the current 151 month sentence he is serving for conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute cocaine and marijuana.
On Sept. 8, 2016, prison staff members observed Garcia assaulting another inmate by striking him repeatedly with a weapon made out of a lock in an athletic sock. The attack was captured by the prison’s video security system. Garcia pleaded guilty to the assault charge on Dec. 23, 2016.
