As the officer began to call dispatch, the suspect – later identified as Jacobs – got into a Toyota RAV4 parked in front of the store entrance.

“As soon as I pulled around, a Dunkin’ Donuts employee ran outside pointing at the car and yelling to me that the woman in the blue RAV4 was ‘really wasted’ and shouldn’t drive,” according to the court affidavit.

The officer activated the cruiser’s emergency lights, approached the vehicle, and reportedly heard the woman screaming into a cellphone. He requested an additional unit and attempted to speak to Jacobs “calmly,” he noted, but she began to yell that she hadn’t done anything and didn’t want to go to jail. The officer reportedly stated that he was just trying to figure out what was going on and she exited the vehicle.

Jacobs reportedly began to pace back and forth very quickly, fidgeted with her bra strap, and continued to rant about not wanting to go to jail, according to the report. An employee then came out and alleged that Jacobs had stolen sunglasses while in the store.

“This sent her into a frenzy and caused her to start yelling again about not having stolen anything,” the officer alleged.

The officer patted her down for officer safety and allegedly felt two hard objects in her armpit area. The officer stated that he requested she put her hands behind her back so he could find out what the items were but she allegedly refused and attempted to make a run for it.

“I grabbed her by the shirt and she continued to pull away from me,” the officer alleged. “She was also flailing her arms wildly and screaming at me.”

Jacobs struggling allegedly caused her to trip over an upright ashtray and sent them both crashing to the ground, according to the report. The officer was able to get her into cuffs as a female detective arrived. The detective then continued the physical search of Jacobs – as she allegedly kept screaming – and reportedly found the stolen sunglasses and a baggie containing a “large amount” of prescription medications, specifically, Ritalin, Oxycodone, Suboxone, and Adderall, according to the report.

Jacobs, according to the report, had two prior theft convictions in Nashua District Court in 2012 and Derry District Court in 2014 so the theft charge was elevated to a felony. She was also charged with resisting.

Jacobs was held on $1,500 cash bail and sent to the Merrimack County House of Corrections.
