Crash Knocks Out Power To 950 In Bow, Dunbarton: Video

BOW, NH — Bow police and fire and rescue teams were sent to Bow Center Road on Wednesday for alarm activations that later were due to a crash that struck a utility pole.

Power was also knocked out for nearly 1,000 customers.

The alarm report was first made at 5:30 p.m. to capital region fire dispatch. About two minutes later, a crash was reported not far from the building with the alarm activation. First responders arrived at the accident scene with firefighters noting the power appeared to be out in the neighborhood. All involved closed traffic to the road at White Rock Road.

Another set of firefighters, who went to one of the alarms, told dispatch the activation was due to the power outage caused by the crash. They left the scene and headed to the crash. At around 6 p.m., firefighters cleared and police stayed at the scene.

Unitil’s outage map reported more than 950 customers in both communities without power. According to its online outage map, around 8 p.m., Unitil said it hoped to have power restored sometime between 11:30 p.m. and 1:30 a.m. on Thursday.

Crashes in Hooksett also closed Auburn Road at Quarry Road on Tuesday, according to police, where a utility pole also snapped but was still standing. Four people were injured in the crash, according to scanner chatter. One person was taken by Hooksett EMTs to the Elliot Hospital.
