Crimeline Seeks Help with Law School Theft Case

CONCORD, NH - Investigators inside the Concord Police Department are asking for the public’s help in solving a recent theft case at UNH School of Law on White Street.

Police, according to an alert, were called to the school around 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 22, 2016, for a report of a theft. An employee at the school stated that he had left his office around 1 p.m. and when he returned at just after 2:15 p.m., an iPad, cellphone earpiece, and USB port were missing.

“An officer reviewed surveillance video and observed a subject holding what appeared to be an iPad matching the one reported stolen,” according to Lt. Timothy O’Malley of the Criminal Investigations Unit. “Security officials believe this subject entered the building through a secure entrance. He was able to gain access by waiting for some students to access the door and following them through it.”

O’Malley noted that security footage appeared to show the suspect trying to gain access to the iPad. Security officials did not recognize him, according to the alert, and didn’t believe he was a student.

Police later found the iPad on the sidewalk near the UNH Law School Intellectual Property (IP) building.

The suspect is suspect is described as a man in his late 20s with short brown hair. At the time of the incident, according to security footage, he was wearing a brown jacket, gray sweatshirt, black jeans, and red sneakers.

Police released these surveillance stills of the suspect and is asking anyone who might recognize him to call the Concord Regional Crimeline at 603-226-3100, or submit information online to the website at concordregionalcrimeline.com, or Txt TIP234 and their message to CRIMES (274637).
