Deep Freeze in NH But Were Records Broken?
Some parts of the Granite State reached -40 degrees, according to the National Weather Service and other weather observers.

The Gray, ME, National Weather Service station has released some of the overnight lows around the region and while it was a very cold night, it does not appear as if records were broken.
The Mount Washington Regional Airport recorded a -20 degree temperature rating early this morning, a very cold temperature. The Observatory, according to a post on Facebook, hit -40 degrees, but that’s not a record. According to online data, the record lowest ever temp for New Hampshire was -47 degrees in January 1934.

In Concord, it was -13 degrees this morning at the airport weather station. While that’s the lowest temperature so far this year, according to online data, it has been colder. It was -17 two years ago and -24 in 2009.
Manchester Airport recorded a -12 reading. Jaffrey recorded a -16 degree reading while Berlin’s airport tracked the temp as low as -18 degrees.

Back in October 2015, the Farmer’s Almanac was calling for “unseasonably” cold winter weather for this year. But after a balmy holiday season that set records for warmth, some were beginning to wonder if winter would ever come. Well now, it’s here.
To the south though, record-breaking temperatures were recorded in Boston and New York City, according to AccuWeather.com.
