Dumpster Full Of Mattresses Burns At Concord Dump
Concord firefighters extinguish dumpster fire at the transfer station on Tuesday after a police officer reports a fire on Old Turnpike Road.
CONCORD, NH — Concord firefighters extinguished a dumpster fire at the transfer station in Concord on Tuesday.
An officer on Old Turnpike Road around 5:30 p.m. radioed dispatch that there appeared to be a fire at the transfer station. Right as the officer was calling it in, capital region fire dispatch was sending out firefighters, the dispatcher told the officer. More police were also sent.
The first officer informed dispatch that the dumpster was full of mattresses.

When firefighters arrived, they reported the container was a 30-yard dumpster and called for more firefighters. Later, the fire commander requested a representative from Casella to come to the scene, too.
Concord police closed off Old Turnpike Road at Manchester Street temporarily as firefighters put out the fire.

The fire was put out around 6 p.m. but some firefighters were held for a short period of time perform overhauling.
