Dunbarton Man Arrested for Assault

Police allege that John Alcantara pushed a woman, held her against her will.

A local man was arraigned in court on Monday for allegedly assaulting a woman at his home in Dunbarton.

John Alcantara, 38, of Flintlock Farm Road in Dunbarton, was arrested on Feb. 1, 2015, and charged with simple assault and false imprisonment.

According to a report, officers were sent to a domestic disturbance at the home a short time before they arrived. The woman alleged that Alcantara pushed her several times and would not allow her to leave the room that she was in at the time. He was arrested later.

Alcantara was processed but refused bail. He was arraigned on Feb. 2, and released on $8,000 personal recognizance bail. He was also ordered to have no contact with the victim. Police say the investigation is still on-going.
