A 1.7 magnitude earthquake hit the city of Concord at 9:42 p.m. on Oct. 2, according to earthquake trackers.
The center of the earthquake was reported about three kilometers below the intersection of East Side Drive, Christian Avenue, and Oriole Road on the Heights.

A number of people reported hearing a boom and feeling the ground rumble all throughout the Heights and East Concord, all the way to Chichester, as far north as Penacook and Boscawen, and in the southern part of the city, as well as Pembroke.
Exactly a minute before the Concord earthquake hit, a 4.5 magnitude earthquake was reported in Iceland.

The earthquake tonight was the third time in about a year that earthquakes have hit the area. There was a 1.6 magnitude quake that hit the area in March. On Oct. 10, 2013, a 2.6 magnitude quake hit the city.
