Elderly Driver Scrapes Building While Driving On Concord Sidewalk: Watch

Watch: A woman was accused of driving up onto a sidewalk on School Street, scraping a building, and striking a parking kiosk Thursday.

CONCORD, NH — An elderly driver was cited on Thursday after a crash in Downtown Concord.

Around 6:30 p.m., police dispatch began receiving calls about a driver crashing into a building and a parking kiosk on North Main Street. The driver, they said, was trying to leave the scene after the crash. Witnesses stated she was acting confused.

Officers arrived and requested Concord fire and rescue teams to check the driver as well as the building.

According to witnesses, the driver drove the Honda HRV onto the sidewalk of School Street from North Main Street, scraped the side of the building, and struck a parking kiosk. The driver may have also stuck other vehicles.

EMTs cleared first, after the driver was found to be OK. Firefighters checked the building and also cleared the scene.

While testing the driver to see if she was intoxicated, she became impatient and belligerent with the police because they would not let her drive away. Two of the officers knew her from previous encounters, including a prior accident. She was repeatedly questioned about whether she could line up a ride with someone else, and she said she was unable to.

After continuing to argue with the officers, one decided to write her up.

The officers cleared the scene around 7:30 p.m.
