Elderly Pedestrian Dies After Being Struck on Loudon Road
Concord Police: Neither alcohol or drugs appear to be factors in the accident; investigators are still looking for witnesses.

CONCORD, NH — An elderly pedestrian struck on Loudon Road on Halloween night has passed away due to her injuries, according to Concord Police. Yvonne Burroughs, 83, was walking in the area of 197 Loudon Road at around 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 31, 2016, when she was struck by a pickup truck being driven by an elderly woman from Contoocook.
The pickup truck was traveling west at the time and struck Burroughs in the roadway, according to police. The driver “immediately stopped the truck and awaited the arrival of emergency services,” according to Lt. Timothy O’Malley, the commander of the criminal investigations unit, and she was “conscious and speaking when officers arrived.” She was later transported to Concord Hospital with multiple head and body injuries, according to O’Malley.
“Initial indications are that at the time of the collision Yvonne was crossing Loudon Road and was not in a pedestrian crosswalk nor was there any crosswalk/traffic signal in the area,” O’Malley stated. “Although the investigation is still ongoing, police do not believe that alcohol and/or drugs played a role in the accident.”
