The Enamelist Society's 15th Biennial Int'l Juried Exhibition Underway
The Gallery at the League of NH Craftsmen Headquarters hosts the student exhibition through March 18.
CONCORD, NH -Enameling is artistic alchemy, transforming glass and metal into beautiful objects. It is a technique that involves fusing glass onto metal under high heat.
The League of NH Craftsmen, in partnership with The Enamelist Society, is pleased to display work from the 15th Biennial International Juried Enamel Exhibition and 11th International Juried Student Enamel Exhibition. The entries in the International Juried Exhibition feature the best contemporary enamels produced in the last two years and the Student Exhibition features the work of students in accredited degree programs around the world. The artists are from Australia, Canada, Denmark, Hungary, Taiwan, Venezuela, and throughout the United States, including one enamel artist from New Hampshire. These works will be on display through March 18, 2016, according to a press statement, at The Gallery at the League of NH Craftsmen Headquarters in downtown Concord.
“When the Enamelist Society contacted us about this displaying this exhibition we jumped at the chance. The exhibition is a great example of the creative and contemporary execution of a centuries-old art,” said League of NH Craftsmen Executive Director Jane Oneail. “The League of NH Craftsmen has strong ties to the Enamelist Society. Nationally known master enamelists Karl Drerup and Joseph Trippetti were both juried League members and very active in our organization. We will have two pieces of Karl’s work in the League’s Permanent Collection as well as his sketchbook on display during the exhibition.” Prior to coming to the League’s Gallery, the exhibitions appeared at Montserrat College of Art in Beverly (MA) and the Worcester Center for Crafts (MA). The exhibitions will also appear at the McGowan Art Gallery in Concord (NH).
